What it does
GPTZero offers a browser AI detector along with advanced scans, plagiarism tools, and a writing-replay workflow in Google Docs. The public page permits a limited text scan and points to paid plans for higher usage and institutional features. Its detector output is probabilistic, not a proof of authorship. Even a strong result can be wrong on edited, multilingual, or formulaic writing. An educator or publisher should preserve the underlying document history, compare sources, and allow an author to explain the work. Test the product on known examples from your own field before creating a policy around its scores.
Editorial notes
Our review
GPTZero belongs on the shortlist for teams that need to investigate writing provenance, especially if process evidence matters. The most responsible use is a prompt for conversation and further review, never an automatic penalty. I would compare its results with known samples and focus on false-positive handling before paying for volume.
Pricing and what to check
